"Her Lifeline was a stand-alone by LA Casey.
It began in the past with Erin’s POV, then brought us into the present eleven years later. It was emotional. Tragedy struck and changed the tone of the storyline immediately. We then began getting a double POV from both main characters.
Erin Saunders had seen too much tragedy starting when she was eleven years old. She was a fighter and had managed to survive and thrive as much as she could. When another tragedy hit when she was twenty two she was barely hanging on until her childhood crush and her brother’s ex-best friend arrived. She despised him for who he had become and what he had done eleven years ago.
Ward Buckley was a multi billionaire and household name. He had not been home since he was nineteen but after more tragedy hit the Saunders family, it was time to go home and make amends.
Her Lifeline was well written, well developed, complex and full of depth. It was an incredibly emotional and sad book filled with love, loss, heartache and healing. It’s a must read; however, your mood will be crucial in the timing of the read. It had a happy ending, but it was quite a painful journey. Go into it with that understanding and it will ultimately be an enjoyable experience."

- I’m honestly sorry for having to give an L.A Casey book a bad review, but in all honesty this book was so depressing! I know it touches some hard subjects like child abuse, death, addictions and as such she had to be serious how she handled them in the book. But why did she have to add so much suffering! I was really looking forward to reading this book, but quite frankly I disliked it, maybe is the romantic in me that was hopping for an overall happy ending after so many tragedies, but I felt cheated with what I’m used to from L.A.

Go into it with that understanding and it will ultimately be an enjoyable experience. - Erin Saunders was only eleven years old when her world came crashing down. On the same day that her father dies, Ward Buckley packs up and leaves town.
He’s the center of her world. And then he was just gone.
As the years pass, everything the Erin works for seems to be for naught. Her only light appears when she’s with her brother, Tommy and his young son. But when a tragic accident has Tommy clinging to life, Ward rushes to her side. He’s still the only man who could either utterly destroy her or be her salvation. She’s not going to give him a chance to decide which one it’s going to be.
Ward Buckley had been planning the escape from his nightmare for so long. He and Tommy were going to finally be free to seek their fame and fortune in London. But his best friend chooses to stay behind with his family in their time of need.
Ward stayed on the course and worked tirelessly to bring their idea to fruition. Now he has more money and success than he ever dreamed of. And the only thing that he really wants is something that even his vast wealth cannot buy – Erin.
Now that he’s back, he’s going to prove to her that she can trust him with her heart. He will be her pillar of strength and her shelter from the storm. If only she will let him.
I have been a huge fan of L.A. Casey’s books since reading the amazing Until Harry. It immediately shot to the top of my “Best of 2016†list and I couldn’t wait to devour more of her work. Her Lifeline certainly lives up to its promise!
L.A. Casey creates a very special kind of unrequited love that feels like an arrow shot right through your heart. It’s that magic that makes Erin and Ward’s story nothing short of an emotional hurricane.
At times, I wondered how they could ever find their way to the other side – but the ending was as sweet as it was poignant. And it reminded me of exactly how it really feels to smile through tears… - I don't even know where to begin. This book took me on a emotional roller coaster. I was hooked from the first page and couldn't put it down. I went from happy to sad to angry to sorrow complete and utter devastation to happy again. Erin loves so big that several times I felt my heart breaking for her. And for the record, I want my own Ward. To watch him come full circle is so wonderful to read. And PLEASE DON'T GET ME STARTED ON TOMMY!!!! I just don't think my heart can take it. Without giving anything away, the whole Tommy thing came from out of no where. I did not see that coming. I think I drooled because my mouth hung open from the shock. I'd like so see something more about Aiden. I loved him and the love he has for his dad. I give this one 100 stars. The only suggestion I would make is putting a vocabulary guide so we know what so of these phrases mean.
